Sasha Pavlov, Russian test pilot and Hero of Russian Federation

Alexandre V. Pavlov - Hero of Russia
"Sasha" Pavlov is the son of a test pilot. After graduating from secondary school in 1986, he joined the Kharkov Higher Military Aviation School for Fighter Pilots. He graduated with honors in 1990, receiving his Pilot-Engineer diploma.

Sasha served as a fighter pilot in the Soviet Air Force until 1992, when he left the military to enroll in the Ministry of Aviation Industry Test Pilot School. Upon graduation, he was assigned to his present position as an experimental test pilot at the Gromov Flight Research Institute.

His total flight experience includes more than 2500 flight hours (4000 flights) in more than 20 types and modifications of aircraft. He often performs in flight demonstrations. When Sasha is not flying, he enjoys spending his time mountain skiing.

Sergei Korostiyev, Senior Test Pilot, Gromov Flight Research Institute

Sergei Korostiyev
Sergei made his first parachute jump and first flight (in a Yak-52) at the age of 15. He graduated from secondary school in 1989 and received his Fighter Pilot Degree from Kacha High Military Aviation School in Volgograd in 1994. In 1998, he received an Aviaengineer Degree from Zhukovsky Military Engineering Academy in Moscow. He then attended the Ministry of Aviation Industry Test Pilot School in Zhukovsky, receiving his Test Pilot Degree in 2000.

Sergei now flies the L-39, but he has over 1050 flight hours in 17 types of aircraft. He flew in the Moscow Airshow MAX 2002 as a member of Alexandre Garnaev’s crew and piloted the Su-30 as a member of Alexandre Kvochur’s crew in Siberian Airshow SAKS-2001. (Garnaev and Kvochur are two legendary Russian test pilots…it was an honor for Sergei to fly with them.)

Vadim Shirokikh, Senior Test Pilot, Gromov Flight Research Institute

Vadim was born in 1968 in the city of Nizhny Tagil and graduated from secondary school in 1985. He began flying at an air club at the age of 16. He attended the High Air Force Pilot College at the city of Armavir from 1985 - 1989, graduating with the rank of Lieutenant to the Air Force Regiment. He served as a pilot with the Russian Air Force from 1989 until retiring from the army in 1998. He then spent three years attending the Test Pilot School in Zhukovsky and was admitted to pilot 15 types of aircraft, including all MiGs. Since 2003, he's been a test pilot at the Flight Research Center of the Gromov Flight Research Institute. Vadim Shirokikh is married and has one daughter. His hobbies are flying small aircraft and playing tennis.

Leonid Chekunov
Pilot Leonid Chekunov was born in Saint Petersburg in 1960, graduated from secondary school in 1975, and from the Military Mechanical Academy in 1979. From 1979 to 1983, he attended High Air Force Pilot College in the city of Kharkov. He graduated with the rank of lieutenant to an Air Force Regiment. He was a Captain when he resigned from the army to attend the Test Pilot School in Zhukovsky. He's been a test pilot at the Flight Research Center of the Gromov Flight Research Institute since 1993. He's permitted to fly 15 types of aircraft, including all MiGs and Sukhois. Leonid is married and has a 19 year old son and 12 year old daughter. He enjoys mountain skiing, swimming, cycling and racing.

Vladimir Loginovski, Russian Fighter Pilot, Incredible Adventures

Vladimir Loginovski - Hero of Russia
Considered by many to be the "best wingman in Russia", Vladimir Loginovski graduated from Kacha High Military Aviation School in 1982 and joined the Air Force. He served as a fighter pilot in Georgia and Czechoslovakia until 1987 when he entered the Ministry of Aviation Industry Test Pilot School.

Upon graduation, he joined the Gromov Flight Research Institute as an experimental test pilot. He has more than 2600 flight hours in more than 30 types of aircraft, including fighter, civil, cargo, bombers and helicopters.

Vladimir has participated in international aerospace expos and airshows in Russia, Europe, Asia and Australia. He often serves as wingman to famous Russian Sukhoi pilot Anatoly Kvotchur.On January 15, 1998, Vladimir received the Hero of Russia Award, Russia's highest military honor.

August Reinbach, Russian Fighter Pilot - Incredible Adventures

August Reinbach
After graduating from secondary school in 1977, August entered the Tambov Higher Military Aviation School for Bomber Pilots. Upon completing his studies, he joined the Soviet Air Force, where he served as a pilot instructor for 11 years.

August left the Air Force in 1992 to join the Ministry of Aviation Industry Test Pilot School. He's been an experimental test pilot at the Gromov Flight Research Institute for three years.

Although August's specialties are the L-39 and the MiG-29, he's piloted more than 30 types and modifications of aircraft. He's also participated in several flight demonstrations.

Ildus Kiramov, Senior Test Pilot, Gromov Flight Research Institute

Ildus Kiramov 
A retired Colonel, Ildus is a member of Russia's prestigious Order of the Red Star, and Order for Personal Courage. Before joining the Gromov Flight Institute in 1992 and becoming Chief of the Department of Light Aircraft, Ildus was senior test pilot at the plant that produces the Su-17MU and the Su-27. He is a graduate of the Kharkov High Air Force Pilots School and Moscow Civil Aviation Technical University. When not flying, Ildus can be found hunting and fishing.

Sergei Sheffer, Senior Test Pilot, Gromov Flight Research Institute

Sergei Sheffer
The son of legendary pilot-astronaut Yuryi Sheffer, Sergei was a test pilot with the Tupolev Design Bureau before joining the Flight Research Institute. He graduated from Kacha High Military Aviation School in 1991 with his Fighter Pilot Degree and received his Test Pilot Degree in 2000 from the Ministry of Aviation Industry Test Pilot School in Zhukovsky.

Sergei started flying in 1989 in the L-29 and has 1500 flight hours in 14 aircraft types. He participated as a demo pilot in Zhukovsky Air Shows MAKS 99 and MAKS 2001. He's certified for passenger flights in the L-39.

He's married and in his spare time, enjoys flight simulators and following Formula 1 racing.
