MiG-21 Retires, MiG-23 Takes Over MiG-21 flights are no longer available at Zhukovsky Air Base in Russia. The jet often refered to as "a test pilot's first love" has been retired. The much newer MiG-23 has taken its place on the flight line and is quickly proving popular. The MiG-23 is best known for its variable geometry wings.
