More Ways to Get Wet in 2010

Swim with WhalesEarlier this month, IA's Jane Reifert and Sheri Lewis spent two days at DEMA, one of the largest dive industry trade shows in the country. (DEMA stands for Dive Equipment and Marketing Association.)

While there, they met with Captain Mike Lever from the Nautilus Explorer and saw pictures Great White Shark Adventuresof the new submersible shark cages that will be available for next season's white shark dives at Isla Guadalupe. Balconies have been added, allowing divers to stand on top of the cages and then drop safely inside as sharks get close.

They bumped into San Francisco shark dive instructors Francesco Koe and Topher Chin and learned about their latest shark conservation efforts. (Check out sharksafe.org)

There was a meeting with IA's "whale guy", Captain Gene Flipse  and Captain Tim Taylor of the RV Tiburon. Captain Gene is preparing for a busy season of swimming with whales on the Domincan Republic's Silver Bank and Captain Tim's preparing for a March trip to the Bahamas to dive with Oceanic White Tips.

Between meetings, Jane and Sheri found time to have dinner with Sharky Jill, leader of IA's Bahamas Tiger Shark Dives in the Bahamas.

Super Aviator Featured

Super Aviator SubThe SAS Super Aviator, the world's first underwater airplane, was featured in a November issue of London's "Daily Mail".  You can read the great article online. The Aviator was also featured on TV's "Travel Channel" this month.

Reading about the Aviator and seeing it on TV is nice, but it's not nearly as much fun as learning to fly the two-passenger submersible.

The SAS Aviator team will be holding their next Super Aviator Flight School on Maui in February.  Learn to fly beneath the sea in the beautiful waters of Hawaii. For more information, visit our website or send us an email.
